COMPETITION

The balancing robot competes in a competition where the objective is to complete the course in the shortest period of time, while staying balanced. A self balancing robot is defined as a robot that is statically unstable (the robot will remain upright under its own power, but it will fall over if power is removed). This project aims to introduce students to the complex world of control systems, where optimization and tuning is key.

The robot should be able to drive for 6 meters and stand still without falling over. For extra points, teams may attempt to also tackle a variety of obstacles, such as speed bumps, uneven surfaces and traffic cones that are in the way.

In 2017,  our balancer team competed at RoboGames in California and achieved 2nd place!
